bornkool is a mobile software programme that assists with data capture where it is needed. Many Stud breeders tag their progeny at birth and record relevant details about the birth into their “calf book” or “lamb book”. Throughout the season the contents of the book need to be re-typed into the main computer, which, if not done for a few days becomes a long and arduous task.

During this retyping of data, errors in the data are often found (i.e dam id is not correct ) and requires rechecking of information back in the paddock. bornkool is designed to replace the book and allow users to record the details directly into a software program. It therefore eliminates the task of retyping the data at a later stage and can verify the data while you are still in the paddock with the dam and progeny still in sight.

Developed for cattle and sheep studs bornkool saves time and effort in managing your progeny records. When making a entry, bornkool checks that your information is correct by ensuring that the dam does exist and also warns you if she has multiple births. bornkool will also check if the dam is in the correct mob. All details of the birth can be entered including pedigree, weights, birth ease scores and comments.

Users can elect to use bornkool with or without an RFID scanner. With all data preloaded users can simply choose the next tag to use in the progeny and even have separate lists for females and males. bornkool will save you time and effort during the calving/lambing season and allow you to spend less time worrying about data and more time managing your livestock.
