Team Te Mania

Team Te Mania is a progressive group of cattle producers based in western Victoria that exclusively use Te Mania Angus genetics in their breeding operations. It's an expanding group, highly regarded within the industry, with some 20 000+ breeders under management. For the past five years, Sapien Technology has been contracted to provide a data collection and management service for steers that are slaughtered through the feedlot market. This service role is key to TTM as part of continual herd performance monitoring.

TTM animals are tracked from their property of birth throughout the feedlot system and their carcase data is entered into the TTM database, which is managed by Sapien. Sapien ensures timely data collection as well as formatting information for best analysis. Data stored is submitted to the Angus Society for use with Breedplan to monitor the quality, growth and improvement of bulls across the entire TTM herd - much of the Breedplan information used by TTM for analysis and interpretation stems from information collected by koolsoftware products. Sapien is also currently developing systems for TTM that will see all carcase feedback data available in an online format using its superkool system.

TTM has a highly scientific approach to breeding, and practises objective measurement and decision-making within the enterprise as opposed to making emotive decisions. Their strategic partnership with Sapien, and the information consequently made available, allows TTM to benefit from bull selections made on the informaed evaluation of genetic traits. Sapien plays a key role as a provider of vital information in TTM's bull breeding programme and assists in the production of outstanding bulls. The long-term approach demonstrated by TTM and Sapien is going to produce a superior and more valuable product for Team Te Mania.
